Tiger Airways named Singapore's biggest low cost carrier

2nd Biggest Airline in Singapore feat achieved with only 10 narrow-bodied aircraft.

Tiger Airways is Singapore’s biggest low-cost carrier, and the second biggest airline, based on the number of seats flown to and from Singapore. According to data by the Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA) and the Official Airline Guide (OAG) for February 2010, Tiger Airways has a 6.2% share, ahead of more established airlines such as SilkAir, Qantas, Jetstar and AirAsia.

Rosalynn Tay, Managing Director of Tiger Airways Singapore, said in a Tiger Airlines statement Apr 29, “With only 10 narrow-bodied aircraft, we’ve enabled more people to fly than our competitors. By utilizing our resources efficiently, we soar ahead of other lowcost carriers who run around in circles on race cars, or jump up and down with celebrity spokespersons."

To celebrate these achievements, Tiger Airways is offering seats on its Singapore-Kuala Lumpur route from S$25 including taxes. For travel between 1 June 2010 to 26 March 2011, these promotional fares are on sale from now till 5 May 2010.
