Tiger Airways' passengers up 42% in July 2010
Carrier had 5.4mln passengers from August 2009 to July 2010, a 51% increase over last year.
Tiger Airways reported strong passenger volumes and load factors in July 2010.
From August 2009 to July 2010, a total of 5.4 million passengers chose to fly with Tiger Airways, an increase of 51% over the 3.6 million passengers who booked in the preceding 12 months. Average load factor for the 12-month period to July 2010 was at 86%, an increase of 5 percentage points year-on-year.
The number of passengers in July 2010 grew 42% over last year to 523,000. The average load factor across both airlines in Asia and Australia for the month was a very strong 89%, according to a Tiger Airways report.

“Externally, the robust economic performance and outlook in the Asia Pacific has significantly boosted demand for air services, especially on the routes operated by Tiger Airways. In addition, our recently increased frequencies and new routes to points in China are seeing very high demand.
“We are capitalising on the ongoing strength in economic growth and visitor arrivals in Singapore by growing our business with the largest increase in Tiger Airways Singapore’s network since its inception. New services are being introduced to Taipei, Trichy and Trivandrum, and frequencies are being increased on existing services to China – including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. We are also increasing services in Australia with the commencement of services from Avalon Airport in November,” said Tony Davis.
