Tiger Airways soars past Singapore Airlines in on-time flights
It was a no-contest as the budget carrier had 90.58% on-time departures this June compared to the flag carrier's 81.86%.
But both airlines performed weaker than last month. Tiger Airways came down from its more impressive 90.71% on-time departure performance. Singapore Airlines had likewise lowered its number of on-time flights from 81.97%, according to the June 2012 Asian Carrier Arrival Performance report from FlightStats.
Tiger Airways trumped Singapore Airlines with only about half the number of late (15 - 29 minutes), very late (30 - 44 minutes) and excessively late (44+ minutes) flights incurred.
When compared to other Asia fliers, Tiger Airways ranked eighth overall, retaining its position from May, as Japanese airlines still proved far more efficient not only in the region but in the world. J-Air clinched the top spot this June with a 96.12% on-time departures as previous number one ANA Wings slid to number three. Hokkaido rose to second, while JAL Express and Japan Airlines came in at fourth and fifth, respectively.
