
Tiger Singapore's passenger traffic jumped 24.7% in May
But its Aussie arm was more impressive.
According to a release, for the month of May 2013, Tiger Singapore recorded a 24.7% increase in traffic year-on-year (y-o-y) to 752 million revenue passenger-kilometres (RPK), while capacity increased 25.0% to 895 million available seat-kilometres (ASK). Consequently, y-o-y passenger load factor was 0.2 percentage point lower at 84.0%. The number of passengers carried grew 18.6% y-o-y to 402,000 passengers.
For the 12 months to May 2013, Tiger Singapore recorded a 22.0% increase in traffic to 8.3 billion RPK, more than keeping pace with a 17.4% increase in capacity to 9.9 billion ASK. Consequently, passenger load factor was 3.2 percentage points higher at 84.0%. The number of passengers carried grew 14.6% to 4.5 million, compared to 3.9 million in the previous period.
For the month of May 2013, Tiger Australia recorded a 69.6% y-o-y increase in traffic to 268 million RPK while capacity increased 48.1% to 314 million ASK. As a result, passenger load factor improved 10.9 percentage points to 85.4% y-o-y. In May 2013, Tiger Australia carried 227,000 passengers, representing an increase of 86.1% over the previous period. The airline was operating at a significantly reduced capacity and on a limited schedule a year ago.
For the 12 months to May 2013, Tiger Australia recorded a 104.1% increase in traffic to 3.0 billion RPK, following a 94.1% increase in capacity to 3.6 billion ASK. Passenger load factor improved 4.1 percentage points to 84.4%. The number of passengers carried grew 116.3% to 2.7 million, compared to 1.2 million carried in the previous period.
