Tigerair's passenger traffic slipped 7% in February
It carried 374,000 passengers last month.
Tiger Airways reported lower operating statistics for February, with the number of passengers carried slipping 7% year-on-year to 374,000 passengers.
Traffic slipped 3.2% year-on-year to 718 million revenue passenger-kilometres, while capacity decreased by 8.5% to 910 million available seat-kilometres. Consequently, y-o-y passenger load factor increased by 4.3 percentage points to 78.9%
According to OCBC, this is the eighth consecutive month that Tigerair showed YoY improvement in its PLF, indicating consistent efforts put in to manage capacity.
“However, we still think there are much more to be done for Tigerair’s turnaround through the alliance with Scoot. The uncertainty over air travel demand from the expected slowdown in global economy also gives us a good reason to remain cautious on near-term outlook,” stated OCBC.
