WAISG launches scholarship program to boost women in aviation
The program seeks to support 20 women over the next 10 years.
Women in Aviation International - Singapore Chapter (WAI-SG) launched its inaugural scholarship program designed to provide opportunities and resources for women keen on pursuing an aviation career.
Globally, women account for less than 20% of most aviation jobs, whilst less than 10% of licensed pilots are women, and only 6% of airline CEOs are female.
WAISG aims to support women in Singapore, who make up nearly 50% of its population, to prosper in the aviation industry.
Beyond providing tuition fees for an undergraduate degree, the scholarship program seeks to provide young women with a holistic approach to Singapore’s aviation sector through WAI-SG’s networking opportunities, events, and educational programs.
“Our goal is to support 20 women over the next 10 years through this program. We are therefore seeking partners to make this a reality by investing in the growth and sustainability of this life-changing initiative,” Lou-Ann Seet, WAI-SG vice president, said.
