With them the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore aims to attract, nurture, and retain talent for the growing industry.
The initiatives are part of the S$9 million Aviation Manpower Fund announced last year.
A government report detailed the new CAAS initiatives as:
1. Aviation Horizons Scholarship • Successful applicants will be recruited to work full-time at a participating aviation company. • At the same time, they can undergo part-time diploma or degree studies subsidised by CAAS and the company. • Institute of Technical Education and polytechnic students can apply. • The scholarship is also open to new hires or those with less than 6 months of service at participating companies. • CAAS has set aside S$900,000 to fund scholarships up to 31 May 2013. 2. Aviation Youth Outreach Seed Fund • CAAS will co-fund projects that grow an interest and passion for aviation in youths. • Projects must achieve key performance indicators set by CAAS. • Any aviation company, association, student group of Institute of Higher Learning can apply. • A seed fund budget of S$315,000 has been allocated up to 31 March 2015. |
