Take a look at The Co's fresh spin on traditional office spaces

Rent an office suite for S$900 a month per person.

Located in the CBD area, The Co offers affordable workspaces that address the needs of Singapore's bustling business hubs.

A product of Arcc Holdings, The Co is an 8-storey building that caters to Singapore's business community and start-ups. It features 202 office workstations, 50 coworking desks, 3 floors of breakout spaces and event spaces, 2 meeting rooms, and 1 conference room. A coworking desk can be rented for a day at S$45 while a private office suite can be occupied at a monthly rent of S$800-S$900 per person (depending on the type of suite).

Tenants are given the flexibility to work and play with the space while keeping a 'fine balance between fixed design elements and mobile elements'.

The team who worked on the space's design include M Moser, Ministry of Design, and Arcc Holdings' own pool of creative minds.

Singapore Business Review interviewed Michelle Woo, General Manager of The Co, to learn more about the office's design and inspiration.

SBR: What were The Co’s needs/requirements for its office space? What was briefed to the design firm?

The Co envisioned itself to be an open-ended platform for people to fill in the spaces with their business passion, personality and panache. Cowork, Collaborate, Community, Connect – The Co symbolizes the endless possibilities, just like its spaces.

The ground floor and basement is designed by Ministry of Design who were brought in to rethink the concept of the office reception and meeting spaces. The lobby, also known as the Magnet Bar, is created to be a hub of activity, where members can interact and meet, and where informal and serendipitous encounters can happen.

The basement is a mix of open and private coves, providing a cosy setting for socialisation, networking and formal meetings.Take a sn

The third floor was designed as a collaborative and coworking open plan workspace by M Moser. Doubling up as a venue for events held at The Co, the space needed to be flexible, one that could change according to the requirements of the community.

It also had to reflect the spirit of The Co, which was to provide an open platform for members to evolve the space. Therefore, The Co drew a fine balance between fixed design elements and mobile elements that enable the space to be used for a multitude of functions.

Level 2,4,5,6 and 7 are office suites where furniture are modular giving members the freedom to organize and personalise their office space.

SBR: What is significant/unique about this project/design?

The number of coworking spaces has been on the rise over the past year but many tend to be quite casual and lacking business services. The Co saw the market gap of ‘professional coworking spaces’ and seized the opportunity by creating a space targeted at businesses that required a more professional image and additional business support while still being fundamentally community centered.

Being a freestanding eight-storey building, The Co has the ability to create a range of spaces spanning across the different floors, giving their members more choices to work more efficiently or to their style. On top of coworking spaces, The Co also offers fully-equipped offices, event and meeting spaces.

The Co also made a distinct point to have members of private office suites and shared desks to share common spaces. This creates more opportunities for their members to interact, collaborate and build business networks.

SBR: Please give us a brief description of the office space.

The Co is an ecosystem of cleverly and stylishly designed workspaces made to encourage collaborations and help people work better. All offices spaces come fully furnished equipped with state-of-the-art technology and business support.

SBR: Tell us about the team who worked on this project.
