500,000 new homes targeted.
According to DBS, the Draft Master Plan 2013 is a statutory land use plan to guide Singapore’s development over the next 10-15 years and shows permissible land use and density for developments in the country.
Here's more from DBS:
The key thrusts of this plan are:
i) to provide more housing options with good quality housing,
ii) to enhance connectivity and accessability to transport nodes like train stations,
iii) to put more quality jobs closer to homes through decentralization activities,
iv) to have more recreational facilities and green spaces as well as
v) to strengthen the Singapore identity through conservation
Essentially, apart from the planned estimate of 500,000 new homes to be built, improving accessability to transportation networks with 8 in 10 households being in a 10-min walking distance from a train station, is targeted.
To promote quality of life, plans are to create more than 60km of nature trails, 360km of park connectors, 150km of round island routes, 900ha of reservoirs and 100km of waterways opened for recreation.
All HDB towns will have their cycling networks and cycle paths would increase from the present 230km to 700km.
