CapitaLand closes six malls in China amidst novel coronavirus outbreak
Local governments in Wuhan and Xi’an cities required the closure.
CapitaLand has closed all four of its malls in Wuhan and both of its malls in Xi’an, China, as required by the respective local governments amidst the outbreak of novel coronavirus (nCov) in the area, according to a press release.
The firm’s office properties in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Chongqing will likewise be closed until 9 February, as set out by their respective local governments.
The six malls will reopen once local conditions allow for it, the company said. However, the supermarkets in CapitaMall Westgate, Wuhan and CapitaMall Xindicheng, Xi’an will remain open.
The company’s remaining 45 malls across China, located in Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Shanghai, will also continue to operate but with shorter hours.
In Singapore, CapitaLand has implemented precautionary measures in accordance with guidelines from the authorities. The firm provided hand sanitisers for tenants, shoppers and guests, face masks for employees, as well as designated premises with predetermined routes for isolating persons suspected to be infected with nCoV.
