Former RJC site may be used for public housing: Huttons

The project may be launched under the Prime model.

Real estate agency Huttons said a public housing development may soon rise at the former Raffles Junior College (RJC) campus in Mount Sinai after it is demolished.

The public housing could be used as a Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme project for the neighbouring Ghim Moh Green precinct which is more than 40 years old, the agency said. It may be launched under the Prime model, it added.

The old RJC campus is in the Mount Sinai private residential enclave and next to the rail corridor. It is surrounded by mostly landed homes and some Housing and Development Board (HDB) flats. The Ulu Pandan CC, Ghim Moh market, and bus terminal are located nearby.

Reports have said that the Housing Board is currently reviewing possible projects that may be built on the site, such as housing, childcare and retail facilities, and a school.

“The predominantly landed homes around the site warrants more attention to ensure that future developments do not overshadow them. Depending on the density of developments, there could be 300 to 700 dwelling units on the site,” Huttons said.
