IEA appeals allowing on-site viewing of property units

The industry is said to suffer further losses if suspension extends beyond 2 June.

The Institute of Estate Agents (IEA) has appealed to Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing to allow potential tenants to physically view vacant property units starting 2 June.

IEA said landlords and owners, as well as property agents will suffer further losses if the suspension of physical viewings continues beyond 2 June.

The group received feedback from tenants who are concerned about hidden problems in properties that are not visible through virtual viewings.

IEA’s CEO Tracey Wong suggested that temperature checks, limiting the number of people, contact tracing measures, and filling health declaration forms can be included during physical viewings of vacant property units for safety measures.
