JTC sets aside $4m for decarbonisation solutions at Jurong Innovation District
The statutory board is seeking proposals to decrease the district's carbon footprint.
The JTC has set aside about $4m to support the co-innovation of new solutions to support the decarbonisation journey of tenants and lessees at the Jurong Innovation District (JID).
The $4m set aside is under JTC's Decarbonisation Living Lab @ JID Innovation Call.
JTC seeks to co-create solutions to help tenants and lessees reduce water and energy consumption, cut waste output, and decrease the district's carbon footprint.
"JID companies can participate in the innovation call by contributing a problem statement for solution providers to respond to. They can also work with a solution provider to solve a particular challenge in these areas," JTC said.
A multi-agency panel, which includes JTC and EnterpriseSG, will evaluate the proposals received from the innovation call.
JTC intends to award the projects by early 2025, followed by the commencement of the testbeds.
JTC said its innovation call allows them to "partner with customers who have firsthand knowledge of their sustainability challenges, thus increasing the likelihood of successful implementation, adoption and commercialisation of carbon-saving innovations at JID."
If the innovation call proves successful, JTC plans to replicate the model in other estates to reduce Scope 3 emissions.
