
K-REIT Asia names Tan Chin Hwee Director
Multi-awarded fund manager was a Keppel scholar who currently works as Apollo's portfolio manager.
K-REIT Asia Management Limited ("KRAM") welcomes Mr Tan Chin Hwee as an Independent Non-Executive Director on its Board with effect from 14 September 2010.
Mr Tan, 39, began his career at Group Treasury at Keppel Corporation Limited (Keppel Corporation) between 1995 and 1999 after graduating from the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) under a Keppel Group scholarship. Today, he is the Portfolio Manager of the Apollo Asia Opportunity Master Fund, which is a fund under the Apollo Global Management, LLC group (Apollo). Apollo is a leading global alternative asset manager which had US$53.6 billion under management as at 31 December, 2009, according to a Keppel report.
Prior to joining Apollo, Mr Tan was a managing director at Amaranth from June 2003, where he pioneered several public and private investment opportunities in markets throughout Asia, including India, Singapore, Pakistan, Indonesia and Taiwan. Prior to Amaranth, he also held positions at institutions including DBS Bank and Keppel Corporation.
Professor Tsui Kai Chong, Chairman of KRAM, said, "We welcome Chin Hwee as the Board works at shaping K-REIT Asia's further growth. His vast experience in portfolio and fund management will lend keen insights and counsel to strengthen our position as a pan-Asian Reit."
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Mr Tan is also an Australia and Singapore-registered Certified Public Accountant. He sits on the Board of the CFA Society in Singapore and speaks regularly at the global CFA Speaker Retainer Programme. Mr Tan is also an Adjunct Professor at the Singapore Management University and is a panel member of the Government Parliamentary Committee for the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Trade and Industry.
Mr Tan is one of two Singapore-based fund managers recently recognised in The Hedge Fund Journal's "Tomorrow's Titans: Blue Chips Managers for the Next Decade". He was also named Fund Manager of the Year for Best Asia Credit Hedge Fund by Hong Kong based publication, The Asset and was on the honours roll call at the World Economic Forum Young Global Leaders 2010.
Mr Tan holds a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the NTU and an MBA from the Yale School of Management.
Meanwhile, Mr Tan Swee Yiow will relinquish his role as Executive Director on the Board of KRAM and will be appointed Alternate Director to Mr Kevin Wong, Deputy Chairman and Non-Executive Director of KRAM, both with effect from 14 September 2010.
