Mapletree Investments makes first foray in Kyushu logistics space

The logistics facility has a four-storey RCSS structure.

Mapletree Chikushino Logistics Centre Phase 1 is Mapletree Investments first foray into the Kyushu logistics market in Japan.

The 110,744-square metres Grade A logistics facility has double ramps and will be completed by end of July 2023.

This adds the firm’s total assets under management in Japan, which stood at $3.9b as of 31 March 2023. 

The facility is located on a land plot measuring 116,319 sqm, which lets the development of 231,648 sqm (~70,074 tsubo) gross floor area of warehouses. 

Wong Mun Hoong, Mapletree’s Regional Chief Executive Officer, Australia & North Asia, said Mapletree has been acquiring, developing, and managing various quality assets across Japan since 2007. He added that they have accumulated over $1.6b in income-yielding logistics properties across the country and witnessed the logistics sector growing into one of the best-performing and most resilient sectors that Mapletree operates in. 

As part of its sustainability efforts, the development has obtained a CASBEE A certification, an environmental performance certification, and is on track to achieve ZEB Ready, an energy conservation performance certification.
