New Shaw Tower to become high-tech workspace: Lendlease
The construction of the 200-metre tower is seen to be completed in 2025.
The new Shaw Tower will be redeveloped into a flexible workplace which has top-grade technologies and pandemic-resilient features whilst retaining the heritage within the building, real estate investment trust company, Lendlease, said.
Lendlease, which was appointed by Shaw Towers Realty to handle the redevelopment, said they started the construction, which is expected to be finished in 2025.
The 200-metre tower will have floorplates between 17,000 and 19,000 square feet, Lendlease said.
To make Shaw Tower safe and seamless, there will be facial recognition, contactless entry, destination control lifts with automatic ultraviolet sterilisation, and smart lighting with internet of things.
Amidst the installation of technologies within the building, Lendlease said it will maintain Shaw’s heritage by incorporating elements of the original building into the redevelopment such as original Shaw Brothers from the roof facade, and previous Shine auditorium seats, amongst others.
In a bid to retain the heritage design of the building, Lendlease consulted experts in the Department of Architecture at National University of Singapore.
