
Singapore REITs’ total returns spike 14.2%
Average dividend yield sits at 6.7%.
Despite the pressures of its underwhelming hospitality and industrial sectors, Singapore Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) have registered a 14.2% total average returns for the year thus far, with an average dividend yield of 6.7%.
According to the latest market update by SGXMyGateway, this is higher compared to the dividend yield of 3.9% for the MSCI World REIT Index.
S-REIT sector is made up of 32 REITs and six Stapled Trusts.
Among the top five performing constituents in the year so far in terms ot total returns were Saizen REIT, Mapletree Commercial Trust, Keppel REIT, Fortune REIT, and nd Mapletree Greater China Commercial Trust.
Meanwhile, five trusts with the highest dividend yields are Viva Industrial Trust, Sabana Shariah Compliant Industrial REIT, Soilbuild Business Space REIT, Lippo Malls Indonesia Retail Trust, and Cache Logistics Trust, averaging dividend yields of 9.0%.
"The SGX S-REIT Index is a free-float, market capitalisation-weighted index that measures that performance of stocks operating within the REIT Sector,” the report explained.
“The index is made up of 34 constituents, with a combined market capitalisation of more than S$68 billion and average dividend yield of 6.6%. The SGX S-REIT Index generated 17.3% in total return for the year to date thus far," the report added.
