Six startups take centre stage at CapitaLand Sustainability x Challenge finale
Six finalists were chosen, but only two will be able to pilot their greentech innovation at selected CapitaLand properties worldwide.
Diversified real estate giant CapitaLand has selected six finalists from their CapitaLand Susntainability X Challenge (CSXC), that will compete for a change to pilot their innovations on selected properties.
The top two winners will receive $50,000 for the pilot, while the other innovations will be considered for future CapitaLand pilots.
“We are giving these finalists the opportunity to realise their full potential in making a positive impact on the environment. From the provision of funding, connecting them with industry experts, and offering a real-world sandbox to stress-test their inventions, the finalists can iterate faster and accelerate towards commercialisation. Through innovationand collaboration, we aim to step up our sustainability efforts including increasing the use of clean energy while greening our global portfolio, meeting our science-based targets to significantly reduce our carbon emissions intensity, improving portfolio resilience andresource efficiency, and enhancing the indoor environmental health and safety ofour building occupants,” said CapitaLand Chief Sustainability Officer Lynette Leong in a statement.
The finalists come from greentech startups and companies from Singapore, China and the United States, which stood out from 270 entries from more than 25 countries.
The following are the finalists:
• g-En Pte Ltd: Blue Green World – From Singapore-based g-En, CooGenTM is a portable, self-powered cold hydraulic generator that can generate clean energy affordably for buildings, using ambient heator waste heat of minimally 25 degrees Celsius. The cold air from the exhaust can also be used to cool buildings.
• Climatec Corp Pte Ltd: Air Conditioning and Michanical Ventilation (ACMV) energy efficiency and water conservation – From Singapore-based Climatec, the ClimaControl Quantum Resonance Water (QRW) treats water used in cooling towers without the use of chemicals or power. The water can be recycled for other uses in the building such as plant irrigation or toilet flushing.
• INOVUES, Inc.: Insulating glass retrofit technology. - The US-based firm has developed a product that can reduce noise and heat gain inside a building by up to ten times using smart class technology that does not need replacement or reglacing. It can be easly installed externally or internally without removing, replacing, drilling or doing alterations.
• Taichu Guocai Materials Co.: GRPU curtain wall – The China-based company has created a Glass Fibre Reinforced Polyurethane curtain wall that can be a substitute for aluminium curtain walls. It reduces energy consumption used to heat or cool a building by up to 25%, is five times stronger and is more heat and wind resistant.
• CleanRobotics Inc: TrashBot – US-based CleanRobotics’ TrashBot makes it Singapore debut. It is a smart waste bin that uses artificial intelligence, robotics, and multiple sensors to sort waste with around 90% accuracy.
• ARID Builders Pte Ltd: LumenAire – From Singapore-based ARID Builders, LumeinAire UV Air Disinfection Solution is a shielded air purification device with a high-efficiency particulate absorbing filter and ultraviolite germicidal irradiation technology. It not only sanitises the air but also reduces virus survivability by over 99% within seconds.
The Grand Finale will be held on 11 June 2021.
