Two-thirds of CEOs mull career change amidst mounting pressure

CEOs are now focusing more on their mental health.

Two-thirds of CEOs are mulling major career changes after experiencing symptoms of poor mental health in the last 12 months due to work pressures, the Bupa Global Executive Wellbeing Index revealed.

According to the index, CEOs are now putting work-life balance at the top of their agenda and focusing more on their mental health.

Amongst the career changes that CEOs wish to do, including moving jobs, reducing working hours, stopping work completely or retiring to improve their work-life balance.

“This shift in mindset amongst Singapore executives means a collective rethinking of priorities, which will see career changes at the highest level and, hopefully, will lead to a healthier, happier top management – a crucial factor that dictates the success of any organisation,” Dean Pollard, General Manager, Bupa Global Middle East and Asia said.

As per the index, business leaders in Singapore are haunted by issues such as changes to COVID management policies (19%), the rising cost of living or inflation (19%) and the challenges in recruitment and retention of employees (19%).

From all the issues weighing on their shoulders, however,  business uncertainty is what is keeping CEOs awake at night (32%).
