Unemployed? Here are the sectors with the highest job vacancies
Overall demand for jobs rose by 93% in January 2022, based on job portal Indeed.
People looking for work opportunities may consider looking in the production sector where demand for jobs was the highest, job portal Indeed said.
Based on the portal’s data, roles available in the production sector increased by 146% year-on-year (YoY).
Job postings in the engineering sector also skyrocketed in January 2022 by 140% YoY.
The number of available installation and maintenance roles, positions in tech and construction also jumped in January 2022 by 130% YoY, 118% YoY, and 101% YoY, respectively.
The increased demand in production and construction, “reflects widespread job losses due to the pandemic,” whilst the growing vacancies in tech, are “simply reflective of the growing demand for skills in these areas,” according to Indeed.
Overall, job postings in Singapore increased by 93% by the end of January.
Indeed said the number of job vacancies up for grabs in their platform has already exceeded pre-COVID levels which is a “great sign for future employment growth and indicates that the Singapore labour market will tighten in the near term.”
Meanwhile, Singapore's unemployment rate is at 2.4% “but has the potential to fall even further in line with general business optimism,” Indeed said.
