IMDA launches media-related training and masterclasses
Selected participants can receive mentorship from director and producer David Puttnam.
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) launched a series of programmes for media students and professionals, including Story Lab Apprenticeship and Script to Screen programmes, according to a press release.
Open for application until 29 September, the 12-month Story Lab Apprenticeship programme will provide on-the-job training for media professionals in media companies like Beach House Pictures, GHY Culture and Media, Mediacorp and mm2 Entertainment.
More than 60 apprenticeship roles will be available, from producing, writing, digital marketing and content creation, and selected apprentices can work on live projects under the mentorship of veterans.
In addition, IMDA tied up with LASALLE to introduce David Puttnam’s ProducersLab in Creative Producing and Financing.
Kickstarting its first run in 2020, up to 12 participants selected through an open call in March will receive mentorship from director and producer David Puttnam from June to August.
Participants from LASALLE's WritersLab can also enroll in the Script to Screen Program, where they can pitch story ideas and scripts to be produced into a pilot.
IMDA also partnered with British Film Institute (BFI) to offer training programmes and masterclasses.
This includes a two-week mentorship programme for local producers, digital masterclasses for media and marcomms professionals, and a ten-day immersive experience based at Pinewood Studios, for 20 nominated media students from Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs).
