Kaplan Singapore partners with Northumbria University in UK
Almost 40 programmes will be offered by Northumbria University to Singaporean students who want to study in UK or Australia.
According to a release, students in Singapore keen to take up tertiary courses at renowned overseas universities will soon have the choice between both a well-respected U.K. as well as an Australian university.
Kaplan Singapore announced a strategic tie-up with Northumbria University in the UK today. Close to 40 programmes, from highly sought-after business courses to offerings in communications, fashion and design will be offered by Northumbria University to students in this region on a progressive basis.
Students to benefit from the strengths of both Education Partners
The programmes under the Kaplan-Northumbria partnership will be introduced in two phases. In 2012 this partnership will offer 538 places for students. Kaplan Singapore and Northumbria University expect to expand enrollment in Singapore to 2,500 places by 2015. In addition, students holding a Kaplan Global Diploma will also qualify for direct admission to the second year of Northumbria’s Business undergraduate programmes. To date, 19 programme offerings have been registered with the Council for Private Education.
Mark Coggins, Chief Executive Officer of Kaplan Asia Pacific said, “We continue to see strong demand for tertiary education in Singapore, as it grows into a global education hub. To match this, we are developing strategic partnerships that go beyond the number of course offerings. From programmes that are highly attuned to market needs to integrated pathways that allow our Global Diploma graduates direct admission to some courses, students can benefit from high quality education options that will give them a strong edge in the workplace, and the best of what reputable overseas universities and Kaplan Singapore have to offer.”
On the partnership, Northumbria’s Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive, Professor Andrew Wathey, said: “Northumbria University is committed to growing its international presence and forming first-class knowledge-based partnerships which create opportunities for students and ensure that they have the skills and qualifications needed to succeed in a global economy. In Kaplan we see an organisation which is highly regarded around the world, with an international mission similar to our own, and an excellent reputation as a global provider of high-quality education. I am confident that this new partnership will bring new opportunities to both organisations and benefits to many students who will now be able to study Northumbria’s programmes in their home country.”
Students will take the courses in the 21,000 sq feet Kaplan City Campus @ Wilkie Edge. Students can find out more about the courses available and make enquiries starting September 2011 and at www.kaplan.com.sg.
