NTUC and Gov’t team up, grant $500,000 for family-friendly workplaces
You can be a housewife, and still have a career.
NTUC U Flex Family-Friendly Grant, worth a hefty $500,000, will be up for grabs for employers who wish to make their work conditions more palatable to employees with families.
Companies who wish to apply for the grant must bear the following conditions: flexible work arrangements, family-care leave schemes, family support schemes and facilities, and career progression pathways for workers on flexible work arrangements.
According to NTUC, the grant will help defray the cost of implementing initiatives to help working parents and caregivers manage responsibilities both at work and at home. Family responsibilities also include taking care of elderly relatives or children with special needs.

“The momentum of companies adopting family-friendly workplace practices continues to be slow. With the growing number of working parents and caregivers, we hope that the grant will serve as an added incentive for more employers to implement initiatives that will allow working parents and caregivers to better manage their work responsibilities and family caregiving duties,” says Toh Hwee Tin, director of NTUC U Family.
