NTUC LearningHub, in partnership with National Trades Union Congress’ (NTUC) e2i (Employment and Employability Institute) and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), has launched four new data protection-related courses for Data Protection Officers (DPOs), an announcement revealed.
Approximately 500 DPOs are expected to benefit from the courses within the first year of rollout. The. The courses were based on PDPC’s Data Protection Competency Framework and Training Roadmap, and aim to upgrade the competencies of DPOs in data protection and risk management.
NTUC LearningHub added that they will also subsequently release 10 other data protection courses.
The four courses are: Monitor and Assess Organisation’s Personal Data Protection Policies and Practices; Develop and Implement a Data Protection Management Programme; Identify Risks Associated with Collection, Use, Disclosure and Storage of Personal Data; and Assess Risks Within a Defined Functional Area, and Develop Countermeasures and Contingency Plans.
The framework consists of nine competencies broadly classified under two categories: Data Protection─which enables businesses to build customer trust and progress towards accountability, and Data Innovation─to harness the value of data to deliver new and improved products and services.
