ST Logistics inks deals to upskill Singapore's logistics workforce
Young professionals can gain new skills, knowledge and certification through tech courses and programmes.
ST Logistics has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with NTUC LearningHub and the National University of Singapore (NUS) to train the logistics workforce amidst the increased automation and digitalisation within the sector, an announcement revealed.
The two company-to-institution MOUs aim to establish a common-learning framework for firms in Singapore to upskill talent within their respective industries and act as a model for other business sectors.
ST Logistics and NUS’ MOU will provide training opportunities for working adults, new knowledge, skills and certification through technology courses and programmes, whilst the MOU with NTUC LearningHub will catalyse the skills-upgrading efforts between the two parties, the statement revealed.
“Logistics companies should not only embrace innovation but also look at reskilling and upgrading their workforce to prepare for the increasingly digitised and connected supply chain world,” Lee Eng Keat, executive director for commercial and professional services at the Economic Development Board (EDB), said in a statement.
In addition, ST Logistics and Toll Group will work together to support the development of local Singapore talent through internal and partnership programs, the announcement highlighted.
