1 in 4 employees feel unsafe in returning to office: survey

Resurgence of infections and failure of safety-compliance are the main concerns.

More than a quarter, or 27%, of employees expressed that returning to work doesn't feel safe, according to an EngageRocket report.

Out of 2,800 respondents, over one-fourth said that they are in fear of resurgence of COVID-19 infections, co-workers’ compliance with safety measures, and self-compliance with safety measures. Three-quarters of respondents said that social distancing should be observed for at least the next six months, whilst 21% said that the observance period should be at least a year.

Amongst the employees who were engaged in organisational communication from their HR managers, 59% were confident about their organisation’s future, showing that culture and engagement can improve resilience and well-being. Employees are opting for a work-from-home facility more often than before, with 85% of workers wanting to continue this arrangement for at least half of the time. The survey also showed that 64% of employees feel they can deliver the same or more in terms of productivity.
