15,000 tourism workers in Sentosa to upskill in three years
The framework aims to implement at 100 initiatives and team up with 15 Island Partners.
Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and NTUC LearningHub (NTUC LHUB) teamed up for a three-year long commitment to upskill 15,000 tourism workers in Sentosa.
SDC and NTUC LHUB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up One Sentosa Transformation and Equipping Platform (1-STEP), a learning learning framework aimed at accelerating the transformation of Sentosa as a tourism destination.
1-STEP will offer new tourism-related programmes to workers on the island, reaching around 200 establishments including hotels, attractions, food and beverage outlets.
The training programmes are seen addressing common challenges faced by businesses in the island, including problems in customer service, sustainability, data and AI.
Over the course of three years, SDC and NTUC LHUB aim to implement at least 100 projects and initiatives through 1-STEP. They also target about 2,000 participants for its Sentosa Learning Festivals, and engage engage with at least 15 partners Island Partners and retain two tourism-related certifications.
The inaugural Sentosa Learning Festival from 24 June to 5 July already had nearly 1000 workers signed up in educational and training programmes, which includes masterclasses and tours.
The MoU was supported by Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) whose workforce makes up 70% of the Sentosa labourforce.
