
2 in 10 companies avoid permanent hiring
Looks like contractual employment looms ahead for applicants.
According to a recruitment survey by Resource Solutions, 19% of Singapore companies said their permanent hires decreased. 37% said it increased, 25% believed their hires stayed the same and 19% admitted they are not aware of hiring changes in their company.

26% of Singapore companies said that contractual hiring increased while 21% said it decreased. 44% of companies believed temporary hiring remained the same while 9% said they didn't know.
Singapore comapnies said that their top priority for recruitment is candidate quality. Here are the other criteria employers look for:

reducing risk
The research findings from the Resource Solutions online survey of over 350 respondents, focusing on HR and recruitment professions in Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia.
The 2nd and 3rd most important priorities in general were ‘the quality of service to hiring managers’ and ‘the quality of service to applicants responding’.
Cost saving ranked as the 5th highest priority.
43% of respondents stated that permanent recruitment had increased when compared to 2011 with the largest increase seen in Malaysia.
64% of respondents do not have a recruitment technology in place to track permanent recruitment, this rose to 74% in relation to technology for temporary or contract recruitment.
