2 in 5 bankers grumble about high cost of living
They also complain working environment is too stressful.
According to eFinancialCareers 2012 Movement Survey, the high cost of living was the major pain point about living in Singapore for over 4 in 10 of finance professionals (44%), followed by the high pressure working environment for nearly a quarter of them (23%).
Here's more from Movement Survey:
Three quarters of all respondents (75%) said they had no intention of relocating outside of Singapore in 2012, and 8 in ten (80%) said that they would recommend living in Singapore to other finance professionals.
When asked about the best thing about living in Singapore, six in ten (60%) of surveyed finance professionals cited the safety of the place. Quality of life came second, at quite some distance (13%).
Commenting on the results, Mr George McFerran, eFinancialCareers Managing Director, Asia Pacific, said: “given the challenging conditions in which global economies operate in today, the results suggest that Singapore is still perceived as a ‘safe haven’ for finance professionals. They reflect a strong confidence in the Republic’s ability to provide these professionals the right balance of social and economic motivations to stay on and ride out the global financial uncertainties.”
The eFinancialCareers 2012 Movement Survey was conducted in June 2012 through to July 2012. There were 866 respondents, and all of them are employed bankers and finance professionals living in Singapore.
