Upskilling and happiness at work rounded up the top three goals for Singaporeans.

Nearly half, or 49%, of Singaporean office workers stated that getting a pay rise is their top career goal for 2020, according to a study by recruitment consultancy Robert Half.

Upskilling came out as the second career goal, accounting for 45% of workers, whilst feeling happy at work showed to be third at 43%.

In addition, changing jobs were at the bottom of the list was 20% of the respondents stating that it is their top priority for the whole year.

Robert Half notes that with such data, offering competitive remuneration, introducing upskilling opportunities and encouraging workplace wellbeing will be key recruitment strategies for retaining high-performance employees in 2020.

Workers aged 18 to 34 year olds were most likely to aim for a pay rise and a promotion in the coming months, with each accounting for half of the respondents. Employees aged between 35 to 54 were least likely to set these as career targets.
