7 in 10 Singaporeans say AI training for teachers is a must

They want teachers to identify AI-enhanced work from students.

Majority of Singaporeans (74%) want educators to undergo training related to using artificial intelligence, particularly in their teaching methods.

According to Ipsos, many Singaporeans (79%) also believe AI training for educators is important so they can, in turn, teach students how to use AI.

Some (77%) said AI training is necessary for teachers to identify student work enhanced by AI.

Whilst some welcome AI in education, 29% of Singaporeans want to ban the use of AI, including ChatGPT in schools. More (46%), however, oppose such a restriction.

Generally, Singaporeans have a balanced view of the impact of technological advances, including AI, in education.

Few (3%) predict that technological advances will not impact the future of education. Meanwhile, 37% forecast more positive than negative implications, and slightly more, 41%, expect an equally balanced impact.
