
7 out of 10 Singaporean professionals careful on their facebook status
Are they afraid that employers might be snooping on them?
A generic poll conducted by Robert Walters found that majority of respondents worldwide recognised the importance of maintaining a professional presence online. Its findings showed that 74% or 24,480 respondents agreed that maintaining a professional online presence was crucial.
This was followed by 20.4% or 7,200 respondents finding it not important and only 10.2% or 3,600 respondents indicating that it was not something they think about.
In Singapore, 69% of professionals feel that it is important to maintain a professional image online, compared to the global average of 74%.
The results included a total of 35,280 responses from visitors to Robert Walters websites around the world and were collated between mid-March to early May this year.
A total of 19 countries were polled. Within Asia, countries included China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and Korea.
The poll also included Luxembourg, Belgium, Brazil, South Africa, Switzerland, United States, Australia, United Kingdom, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany and Ireland.
