About 4 in 10 firms mull hiring older employees
Employees are widening their scope in response to a shrinking talent pool.
Several employers in Singapore (35%) are willing to hire older employees in response to a talent shortage in the country.
Given that firms are expressing greater willingness to hire older workers, Linda Teo, country manager of ManpowerGroup Singapore, said more must be done to “ensure that older workers remain valued in a competitive job market.”
Apart from older workers, firms in Singapore are also open to hiring individuals who have been unemployed due to caretaking responsibilities (29%) and also those who have non-linear career paths or multiple career changes (27%).
Some are also open to hiring talents who don't meet all the technical skills required for the job (22%).
