Candidates speaking these languages can earn the highest salaries in Singapore
The trade and construction industry offers the highest salaries for foreign language speakers.
Tamil and Japanese-speaking job seekers can earn the highest salaries in Singapore, a survey by Preply revealed.
Including languages natively spoken in Singapore, Tamil speakers can earn an average salary of $41,280 whilst Japanese-speaking job seekers can earn $40,164.
Spanish, French, and Hindi speakers round up the top five highest earners.
Meanwhile, Mandarin and English, which are native languages in Singapore, are ranked seven and eight, respectively. Malay is ranked 11th.
For foreign languages, the top five with the highest earning potential are Japanese, Spanish, French, Hindi, and Italian.
Demand
As for demand, English-speaking roles still dominate the job market in Singapore, making up nearly 60% of available jobs followed by Mandarin at 26.81%.
Japanese language-speaking roles make up 6.69% of jobs requiring that skill however looking at solely foreign languages, the demand for candidates who speak Japanese is the highest, with more than half of roles requiring a specific language skill requesting Japanese

This is followed by French, German, Italian, and Hindi.
Excluding native languages, the survey also found out that the Trade & Construction industry offers the highest salary with an annual average of $55,236.
They are followed by jobs in Creative & Design Jobs with $50,676, IT Jobs at $45,278, Healthcare & Nursing Jobs at $41,100, and HR & Recruitment Jobs at $41,093.
