Chart of the Day: 49% of laid off residents got re-employed by March 2013
Down from December's 57%.
According to the latest report by MoM, the rate of re-entry into employment declined, after rising in the preceding quarter. Based on CPF records, nearly one in two (49%) residents laid off in the fourth quarter of 2012 secured employment by March 2013 (i.e. within six months of redundancy), down from the 57% experienced by the previous cohort (laid off in the third quarter of 2012) in December 2012.
The overall decline reflected the drop in re-entry rates of PMETs (from 53% to 47%) and production & related workers (from 72% to 55%). Clerical, sales & service workers saw a smaller decline (62% to 58%).
The re-entry rates also fell for those aged 40 & over (from 52% to 42%) and in their 30s (62% to 56%), while remaining stable for those younger at 65%.
