Chart of the Day: Construction sector headcounts rose by 12,800 in 2019

The figure reversed three years of decline.

This chart from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) reveals that the total employment in the construction sector grew by 12,800 in 2019 after recording three years of decline, based on preliminary estimates.

In Q4, employment growth slowed to 4,600, from 5,400 in Q3. On a YoY basis, it reversed a decline in headcount of 400 in Q4 2018.

Overall, total employment rose by 55,200 for the whole year, speeding up from the 38,300 rise in the previous year.
