
Chart of the Day: Job vacancies jumped 9.2% to 51,100
It represents 2.6% of manpower demand.
According to MoM, job openings rose, after declining in the previous quarter. The seasonally adjusted vacancies increased over the quarter by 17% in March 2013, reversing the decline of 7.0% in December 2012.
On a non-seasonally adjusted basis, there were 51,100 vacancies in March 2013, up 9.2% from 46,800 a year ago. These vacancies represented 2.6% of total manpower demand, higher than 2.4% in March 2012.
There were openings available across the skill levels. 21,900 or 43% of the vacancies in March 2013 were for professionals, managers, executives and technicians (PMETs) and 29,200 or 57% were for non-PMETs, comprising 15,500 for production, transport operators, cleaners & labourers and 13,700 for clerical, sales & service workers.
