Chart of the Day: Proportion of women in the labour force rose to 46.3% in June

LFPR for female residents grew to 61.1%.

This chart from the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) reveals that the share of female workers in the labour force expanded to 46% in June vs. 43% from ten years ago. This was attributed to more flexible work arrangements and higher educational attainment for women.

The labour force participation rate (LFPR) for female residents also rose to 61.1% in June from 55.2% ten years ago. For male residents, it remained relatively unchanged at 75.4%from 76.3% over the same period.

According to a previous report, the share of establishments that offer ad-hoc flexible work arrangement (FWA) like unplanned time off rose to 84% in 2018 from 68% five years before, whilst those offering formal FWAs like part-time work or flexi-time rose from 44% to 53%.
