Crypto, blockchain specialist demand surges 80%
The demand increased 20% from 2020.
Research by the global jobs portal, Indeed, showed jobs requiring knowledge in blockchain, cryptocurrency, or non-fungible tokens (NFTs) grew 80% in Singapore in 2021. The data also revealed an acceleration in the market's demand, 20% from 2020.
In 2019, most roles asking for blockchain or crypto expertise were technical, such as software engineers, developers, and software architects. By 2021, roles like compliance officers, community managers, recruiters, and social media specialists also included requests for knowledge in blockchain, cryptocurrency, or NFTs.
"Our research identified two primary trends in the market. The first is the growing demand for technical professionals, like developers and software engineers, who have skills in these new areas. The second is that, even for non-technical professionals, knowing about these technologies can become a differential to get a job. For these professionals, the level of expertise required can vary a lot, but it seems that some knowledge is already making a difference," remarked senior manager Nishita Laivani.
In the last two years, some jobs in media, law, and the arts also started demanding expertise in blockchain, cryptocurrency or NFTs.
