Daily briefing: Group slams use of phrase "illegal strike"
MOM however called the group’s accusations ‘baseless’.
- Yahoo reported, “The group had said the four bus drivers from mainland China being charged in court ‘were clearly doomed from the start’ when acting minister for manpower Tan Chuan-Jin used the term ‘illegal strike’ to describe the mass labour protest of over 180 SMRT bus drivers in the ministry’s first press conference.” See the story here.
- Meanwhile, in relation to the recent strike, dormitory operators clarified that the cleanliness of living spaces in rented dormitories are maintained not by the landlords but by the tenants. Find out more here.
- In other news, a new recreation centre for migrant workers which will be operationally ready early next year has been opened in Penjuru. Watch the video here.
