Green hiring went up by 15% in 2021
Most of the recruitment of green workers came from the finance sector.
Green hiring in Singapore increased by 15% in 2021 compared to 2016 but non-green jobs also accounted for a growing share of hiring over the period, according to a Global Green Skills Report 2022 from professional community, LinkedIn.
The report showed that amongst the share of hiring in LinkedIn, 0.5% are green jobs, 9.4% are greening, 40.9% are greening potential whilst 49.2% are non-green jobs.
It noted that the finance sector leads in recruitment of green workers in Singapore following the industry taskforce convened by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, which sought to speed up green finance.
This is supported by 2022 LinkedIn Jobs on the Rise list, which noted Sustainability Managers as among the top emerging jobs in Singapore.
Singapore is also becoming a centre for innovation in green technology, LinkedIn added.
