Here's how difficult it would be for Singapore to grow workforce by 2030
There are 0.7 citizens entering working age for every one citizen exiting.
Government sees the number of citizens in the working ages of 20 to 64 years will decline from 2020 due to more citizens retiring and fewer citizens entering the workforce . It notes that it will become increasingly difficult to grow our workforce through our citizen population alone, unless we succeed in reversing the declining fertility trend.
In 2012, government statistics show that there are 2 citizens entering working age for every one citizen exiting.
By 2030 however, government forecasts that there will be 0.7 citizens entering working age for every one citizen exiting.
