Job wanted: Bosses scramble for more contractors
39.1% of IT&T employers are hiring.
According to a recent survey by Hudson, overall positive hiring intentions for contractors are up. IT&T is the most positive industry with 39.1% of employers wanting to hire more contractors next quarter (up 19.1pp).
More than a third of Banking & Financial Services employers are seeking more contracting staff (up 16.9pp). Contractors are in higher demand in the Manufacturing & Industrial industry this quarter, up 4.9pp to 23.4%.
Here's more from Hudson:
The Singaporean government continues to list a range of IT&T roles as vital to the economic growth of Singapore, driving businesses to fill empty permanent roles with contractors.
Businesses are increasingly frustrated by Singapore’s new restrictions on foreign workers. As laws regarding foreign workers continue to tighten it is likely that employers will look to fill critical roles with easier sourced foreign contract workers.
The local candidate market continues to resist contract opportunities as a career option, creating opportunities for foreign workers willing to take on these roles, despite their preference for long-term contracts.
A number of staff with contracts ending in December has influenced the number of employers expecting to decrease in headcount this quarter.
