Kaplan launches e-degrees

The new business arm named @kaplan will offer 3 degrees through University College Dublin.

The program, @Kaplan, aims to offer students flexible schedules and quality education online as it partners with one of the top 5% universities in the world, University College Dublin.

Local and regional students studying in Singapore can now look forward to high quality adult education courses, from established universities, catered to their schedules and needs. Kaplan Singapore announced today its plans to launch a new business arm, @Kaplan, offering students internationally recognized qualifications online. A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed this evening (22 May 2011) between Kaplan and its first partner, University College Dublin (UCD), National University of Ireland.

Mr Mark Coggins, Chief Executive Officer for Kaplan Asia Pacific, said, “A world-class education need not have to be confined to a classroom anymore. Many of today’s students in Asia today want to advance in their careers, but need a quality education that can be accessed on their schedules and without having to physically remove themselves from their hectic business and personal lives here. Our e-learning programmes provide a flexible schedule that can be tailor-made to their needs.”

The three programmes that will be part of the initial e-learning programmes are the Kaplan Global Diploma – Diploma in Commerce and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Marketing and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Management by the prestigious University College Dublin.

Students who join @Kaplan will attain the same qualifications, accreditation and testament awarded to on-campus students, but with all the flexibility they need and more interaction than ever before.

These include multimedia lecture formats, more avenues for student and lecturer interaction, as well as the flexibility to study anytime, anywhere. In well-designed programmes online learning has been proven to produce equivalent or better learning outcomes as compared to classroom programmes.

Maia Sharpley, Vice President, @Kaplan said “Unlike classroom study @Kaplan is not bounded by geography. This enables us to bring leading educators and practicing business professionals from anywhere in the world to the home or office of our students.”

@Kaplan is currently in discussions with several universities and expects to expand its offerings in 2012.
