Millennial employees actively gunning for promotions, salary hikes

They’re also less satisfied with their jobs.

Singaporean millennials are more upfront about asking for promotions and salary hikes compared to their older counterparts, a survey by Accenture revealed today.

The survey showed that 63% of Singapore respondents have never asked for a promotion, and more than half or 58% have never asked for or negotiated a pay raise.

Globally, 68% of millennials asked for a raise while 59% asked for a promotion. This is higher than their Gen X counterparts--only 64% of Gen X employees asked for a raise, while only 52% asked for a promotion.

Job satisfaction in Singapore rose slightly to 35%, from 32% in 2014. Feeling underpaid superseded “no opportunity for growth” as the top reason for dissatisfaction at 54%.

A lack of opportunity for career advancement also rose from 33% to 38% this year
