MOE bumps monthly pay of teachers by 5%-10%
The salary adjustments will take effect on 1 October.
The monthly salaries of the Ministry of Education's (MOE) education officers (EO), allied educators (AEDs), and kindergarten educators (MKEs) will be increased by 5% to 10% on 1 October.
In an announcement, the MOE said the salary hike will ensure that their "overall salary packages remain competitive" so they can "continue to attract and retain good educators."
The MOE said 35,000 EOs, 1,6000 AEDs, and 800 MKEs will benefit from the salary adjustments.
Meanwhile, the MOE also announced that starting in 2023, its CONNECT Plan will see an "overall enhancement of about 20%, as the annual deposit quantum and payout ratio will be raised to better support officers in the earlier years of their career."
Currently, the flat rate quantum set aside for EOs each year ranges from $3200 to $8320, whilst the payouts are given every three to five years.
