MOM orders seven workplaces to cease amidst safety lapses

All seven have now been allowed to resume operations.

The Ministry of Manpower has ordered seven workplaces to cease operations due to lapses in Safe Management Measures (SMM) requirements, according to an announcement.

Six were found out to have many employees at the workplace despite the ability to perform their work at home, whilst one had multiple lapses in implementing the SMMs.

All seven have since been allowed to resume operations after correcting their practices.

On 15 June, the ministry handed out 52 composition fines of $1,000 each to employers for failing to comply with requirements.

The MOM reminds all employers and workers to take SMM rules seriously to help stop the spread of the virus. Those who wish to report lapses are encouraged to do so through the SnapSAFE app.
