More than a third of firms disclosed salary in job listings in March
Admin, sales, and marketing job postings are most likely to reveal their pay.
Pay transparency in the Lion City is now 1.8 times higher in March 2023 compared to 2019, a study by jobs portal, Indeed, showed.
More than 40% of all job postings in admin, sales, and marketing disclose their salary.
Sales and marketing job postings also saw the greatest increase in pay transparency year-on-year, with the share of postings disclosing salary up 10% points and 9% points, respectively, between March 2022 and March 2023. Admin jobs followed closely behind, going up 7% points, whilst pay transparency for jobs in Tech were little changed over the same year period.
This practice stemmed from Belgium, Denmark, and some US states introducing pay transparency laws. Although Singapore has yet to introduce such a law, more companies in Singapore are hopping on the bandwagon with 35% of all job postings on Indeed’s platform in March advertising salary.
"It comes against the backdrop of talent shortages over the last couple of years as companies competed fiercely for talent. Even as the market shifts, we expect to see this trend continue with employers and job seekers both reaping the benefits of a more transparent hiring process,” said Callam Pickering, Senior Indeed Economist, in APAC.
