NTU is still king among world's young universities

It topped the rankings for the third straight year.

Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) remains unparalleled as the best young university in the world.

The latest Quacquarelli Symonds' (QS') rankings of the world's top 50 young universities established 50 years ago revealed that NTU clinched the top spot in an Asian universities dominated global list with the top six places held by universities in Singapore, Hong Kong and Korea.

The annual rankings by the London-based QS examined six indicators such as research quality, teaching quality, reputation among employers, and an assessment of the global diversity of faculty and students. This year’s top young universities are focused on Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) such as NTU which is regularly ranked among the best in the world in engineering.

"NTU is leading the charge of the Asian universities up the young universities table through its focus on science and technology. Being young is an advantage, as it allows us to be nimble and to chart our own dynamic paths without being held back by conventions," said Prof. Bertil Anderson, NTU President.

Earlier this month, NTU was also nabbed the 13th position in this year’s QS World University Rankings. The university’s back-to-back achievements come as it celebrates its silver jubilee this year.
