Only 6 in 10 private school graduates hired 6 months after graduation

They find it harder to adjust compared to their public school counterparts.

Only 6 out of 10 or 60.1% private school graduates were able to find full-time employment within six months of graduation, according to a Private Education Institution Graduate Employment Survey released by the Committee for Private Education (CPE).

The survey revealed that fresh graduates from private schools face more difficulty in entering the labour force and enjoy lower salaries compared to graduates from public, autonomous and technical universities.

Eight out of 10 or 79.9% of public school graduates are able to find employment six months after graduation.

Median gross monthly salaries also differ by 30% for fresh graduates as public school graduates enjoy $3325 for their first salaries while their private school counterparts settle for $2550.

The survey was conducted from July to September 2017 and focused on full-time students.
